The Heart of Competition Showcase, hosted by Bryan Nwelwue of iSchool, was the place to be Friday morning. Coaches from all over the country were in attendance getting a glimpse of players competing in a prep school only environment.
2026 6’6 Aeneas Alexander, Pace Academy, is an intriguing prospect. A perimeter player with a nice lefty jumper and surprising wiggle in the paint, I can see Alexander developing in to a multifaceted who can be successful as a small ball forward. He’s a good rebounder and can effectively start the break himself.
2025 6’8 David Iweze, iSchool, continues to show why he’s one of the best interior players in the state of Texas. The Utah State commit was active around the rim on both ends, rebounding and blocking shots. He had a very nice over the shoulder hook that oozed offensive upside in a very physical matchup with Legacy Sports Science.
2028 5’10 Aiden Clarke ran the show for Legacy Sports Science. You wouldn’t be able to tell that Clarke was an incoming freshman. He hit several post to perimeter three pointers, while taking care of the basketball and making plays for his teammates.
2025 6’9 Daijon Leatherman, Legacy Sports Science, should be on every mid major college coach’s radar. His game is productive, simply put. He’s a big body, with great feet and soft hands. Very physical in the paint, he makes it very hard for post players to move him and he’s become good at ‘walling up’ defensively. Offensively, he’s a strong screener, demands the ball in the post and finishes well around the rim.
2025 6’4 W Romiel Carter, iSchool, is a swiss army knife with excellent athleticism and a college ready body.
2025 6’8 Amari Reed, Dynamic Prep, is a steal for the University of Texas-Arlington. A great physique with dominant athleticism, he’s a man amongst boys inside with great hands but it was his baseline shooting touch that impressed the most. This season with Dynamic Prep and Coach Jermaine O’neal should pay off big time when it comes to rounding out his game.
2025 6’3 Leroy Kelly IV, Dynamic Prep, is a coach’s dream. The Oral Roberts commit is poised, cerebral and a good shooter.
2025 6’3 combo guard Jacobe Coleman, Dynamic Prep, did a little bit of everything, but the first step and his leaping ability immediately registered off the charts.
2025 6’3 wing Jackson Seastrunk, Xavier Academy, had a solid day. Showed he can shoot it out to the three point line, a straight line driver and above average finisher.
2027 6’4 wing Amir Bryant, Xavier Academy, is one to keep your eye on. Still getting comfortable with competition at this level but showed very good flashes, including a two handed body over two defenders.
