Christopher Hunt aka ‘Deuce’ has started this fall season with a ton of motion. The 6’1 sophomore first caught my attention at the Crowley Shootout, showcasing his sweet lefty jumper, playing beside Beckham Black and Kayden ‘Bugg’ Edwards, giving the Duncanville Panthers a formidable trio of guards who can beat you in multiple ways.
He recently attended the Pangos All-South Freshman/Sophomore Camp which has found players like Trae Young, Cade Cunningham, and De’Aaron Fox amongst others. “My experience at Pangos was great,” said Hunt. “I had a great time competing against other great players and got the opportunity to showcase my skills.” Showcase his skills he did, named to the Top 30 All-Star game, Hunt had an excellent camp and revealed a first step and explosiveness I wasn’t aware of. His game keeps you off balance, he will burn you with jump shots out to the three point line but if you play him too close he’s getting to the rim and he’s getting there quickly.
“I’ve been working on getting stronger and more explosive. I’m in the gym 2 to 3 times a day working on shots from all 3 levels,” Hunt said. The work is paying off, he’s the kind of smaller guard with enough bounce to catch a slow rotating big.
But as much as he relishes on individual success, it’s the team success he’s after. “My goals are to win state this year. Individually, I feel like my numbers will increase because I’ve grown as a player mentally and physically and now I’m ready to step into a larger role,” said Hunt.
Hunt seems poised for a big season and his future is looking bright. “I currently have been offered by Sam Houston State, Texas A&M Commerce and Texas State. I’ve also been hearing from Texas A&M, Oklahoma State, Mississippi State, and Rice.”
